Webroot uses a unique method for cloud detection. It relies on the cloud to not touch safe programs and attack dangerous programs. The unique feature is if Webroot finds an unknown program it pauses any irreversible actions such as transmitting private data and it monitors all actions taken by the program. Meanwhile a combination of automated systems and real human experts back at Webroot Headquarters analyze the questionable program. If the human experts determine there is danger then your local Webroot utility will take action on the dangerous program. Furthermore it will reverse actions taken in its logs in an attempt to undo the damage. Webroot states that it can take between 45 and 90 minutes for a decision to be made on a questionable programs by human analysis. The antivirus intelligently collects data on new threats by harnessing the power of its giant user base and their PCs - but you can opt out of this feature if you want to. When AVG recognizes a problem quite often a Fix button will appear on your computer screen. If you give approval then AVG will attempt to correct the problem swiftly. AVG waits until your computer is not being used before it begins its scans to reduce hogging up resources. It is smart enough to ignore files that it has already approved. It has a game mode feature to ease your apprehension that a game will be interrupted by a scan. The Deep Scan feature is very unique. Deep Scan will run a new Boot-Time scan to discover potential threats before Windows starts.

Some of these settings include advanced heuristics, popularity heuristics, operating background functions using fewer CPU resources, enabling or disabling enhanced rootkit detection, favor low memory usage over fast scanning, and more. Another great feature is free business technical support is included. Remote management is built-in as well. The AVG Business Edition is the next level up. The mid-level product can leverage the cloud to assist in protecting against threats. Also this version includes things like a firewall and email scanning. If you want to nuke spam you will need the premium offering which is AVG Internet Security Business Edition. |
