Strengths:

McAfee comes loaded with features in all versions that other competitors require upgrades for or do not include at all. These include features like the digital data shredder (which permanently deletes files so they cannot be recovered), a firewall, a PC tuneup and a USB and removable drive scan.
The wireless network protection is an interesting option which is often overlooked by most antivirus competitors.
Active Protection technology provides immediate protection against malicious threats to your PC. A new threat can be analyzed and blocked in a split second rather than waiting hours for traditional techniques.
Strengths:

Tremendous proactive protection. Kaspersky has an outstanding record of identifying new forms of malware before they are known and recognized. Recently Kaspersky ranked #1 out of 17 different antivirus competitors at detecting unknown spyware via an independent study by AV Comparatives.
Kaspersky provides a keylogger defense mechanism called Safe Keyboard that launches when you interact with banks or payment websites to protect passwords when interacting with banks and online payments.
The System Watcher feature monitors your PC to detect dangerous behavior and allow you to undo or rollback most malicious actions.
Virtual Sandbox:

No. We do not see a virtual sandbox option in McAfee
Virtual Sandbox:

Kaspersky offers several features to handle the sandbox environment. These include System Watcher, Safe Surf, Applications Control and Trusted Applications Mode. All these features are built for preventing malicious programs from executing.
PC Optimization:

Yes. McAfee addresses unused applications, temporary internet files, and other items slowing down your PC. McAfee QuickClean™ removes these problems to enhance PC performance.
PC Optimization:

The Antivirus line does not contain a lot of PC optimization features. This would be one of the weaknesses of the Kaspersky line in our opinion.
Backups / Online Storage:

Yes. McAfee Total Protection 2015 offers online backup protection (up to 2GB).
Backups / Online Storage:

Yes. Kaspersky offers very nice local backup features, including backing up to a local drive, an external drive, or even FTP for online backup functionality. You can even restore to a computer where Kaspersky is not installed.
Parental Control:

Yes. McAfee restricts inappropriate websites from children and it can limit online time as well.
Parental Control:

Yes. There are options to control access to access to the computer itself, the internet, programs, games, and individual websites. They even have remote management of parental controls!
Chat / IM Protection:

No. We can't find any specific chat / IM monitoring with McAfee.
Chat / IM Protection:

There is chat / IM protection in the Internet Security version.
