Trend Micro Antivirus - Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus is definitely focused on protecting your social media. It does the typical things like scanning for viruses and malware. It also boosts the Windows Firewall and validates WiFi networks and hotspots. Trend Micro Antivirus will monitor search engine results to make sure any link you click on is safe. It highlights suspicious links in your social media profiles to warn you before you click on something dangerous.

Trend Micro Internet Security - The Internet Security version improves PC performance by cleaning up temporary files, registries, browser history, cookies and the start-up manager using a feature called the System Tuner. It also provides parental controls and online backup. All of the features of Trend Micro Titanium Antivirus can also be found in this version.

Trend Micro Maximum Security - The Maximum Security version includes a password manager, file locking, tablet security and mobile device security on top of everything offered in Titanium Internet Security.
Versions:

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) is a free antivirus download which works on Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. Windows 8 has a feature called Windows Defender which is the same as Microsoft Security Essentials but you do not need to download it as it is built in. Microsoft Security Essentials is a plain solution which is better than nothing but in general is significantly outperformed by any of the commercial antivirus solutions reviewed on this website. MSE will detect some viruses but not near the success rate as other commercial solutions. We suggest Avira, Avast, AVG or ZoneAlarm free editions if you absolutely need free antivirus.
Strengths:

Trend Micro is heavy on social media protection so if that is important to you then consider this antivirus. It has a cool Facebook Privacy checker which helps enlighten your Facebook privacy settings (showing you things that you might not want to share on Facebook but may currently be opened to sharing).
Trend Micro scores very well on accurate virus detection. It ranks #3 out of 21 in flagging false positives in an independent AV Comparatives study.
There are versions for both Windows and Mac.
Strengths:

Microsoft Security Essentials is free and provides some protection against viruses and spyware.
Security Essentials is very low maintenance. It basically runs in the background without interfering with your computer experience.
Security Essentials is very lightweight and it certainly doesn't bog down your system.
